Thomas County EMS is a full-service prehospital response agency providing advanced life support-level care to citizens and visitors of Thomas County. We have a staff of 10 full-time paramedics, advanced EMT’s and EMT’s, and are supplemented by 22 volunteer paramedics, advanced EMT’s and EMT’s. We respond from three stations- a station manned 24/7 in Colby, and from 2 volunteer stations in Brewster and Rexford. In 2018, we are on track to have our busiest year ever, responding to over 1000 calls for service.

Thomas County EMS prides itself on having progressive, up-to-date medical protocols as well as the newest equipment, including Philips cardiac monitors/defibrillators, Drager  transport ventilators, Plum-A IV medication pumps, an Autopulse automated CPR machine, and power-assisted cots for patient transport.

Thomas County EMS responds to a wide variety of calls, ranging from sick persons, heart attacks and strokes, to automobile accidents or farming accidents. We also provide inter-facility transfer of patients from local hospitals to higher-level-of-care facilities across Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska. We also provide education classes to staff and citizens including EMT, Advanced EMT, first aid, and CPR classes.
